Farouk Hossen’s story is one of drive and commitment. He pursued an applied optical education at The City College London, the capital’s leading institution, where he graduated as an Optician in 1967. He then undertook postgraduate studies in the field of Contact Lenses, working under the well-respected Professor Montague Ruben at Moorfields Eye Hospital before joining the prestigious E.B. Meyrowitz, 1A Old Bond Street, where he set up the Contact Lens Department.
Drawing on his rich and invaluable experience in London, Mr. Hossen set up practice in Mauritius, establishing Farouk Hossen Opticians in 1972. At the time, there were only three employees. Today there are 21 practices, located across Mauritius and in Rodrigues, designed with the focus on making your experience as seamless as possible.
Our skilled, licensed opticians are trained to provide dedicated, professional service and will work patiently with you until the right solution is found.
He also embarked in the implementation of a lens surfacing production unit together with an Anti-Reflection Coating plant, based on the state-of-the art technology.
